At Piscataway High School, right before winter break, students and teachers come together to participate in the highly anticipated door decorating contest. This year, the art wing’s very own Ms. Knerim emerged as the grand prize winner with her creative masterpiece, the ”Gingerheim Museum.”

Ms. Knerim credited her inspiration to her students, particularly senior Amaya Campbell, who came up with the idea to create a gingerbread-themed design. Working with Ms.Knierim, ten students turned their vision into reality. The team crafted intricate candy canes and vibrant candies to sit on top of the gingerbread house using simple materials like cardboard, paint, and glue. These festive decorations brought the Gingerheim Museum to life.
While Ms.Knerim was reflecting on the process, she shared that the biggest challenge was the scale of her imagination: “I had so many lofty, fun ideas,” she said, “it was difficult to incorporate them with the small amount of time we had.”
Given only a week and a half to complete the project, the team worked tirelessly to finalize their creation. Looking back, Ms.Knerim wished they had more time to perfect the details, but she expressed immense pride in her students’ dedication to the project. “They inspired me,” she said.
Their teamwork and artistic talent helped transform her classroom door into a winter wonderland, leaving everyone who walked by in awe. Ms.Knerim’s gingerbread house was not just a door decoration but the teamwork and creativity of many students who worked hard to win the contest.
