When growing up in a certain culture, many students may feel the need to explore others. To experience other cultures, many schools have formed clubs revolving around them as a way to encourage students to learn about other cultures and experience them by hand. Two students at PHS, Eloise Youngster, a freshman, and Claudette Youngster, another freshman stayed after school and attended a meeting for Chinese Cultural Club.

Hoping to experience an aspect of Chinese culture, they joined for after school to experience the art of Chinese calligraphy. “I think that it is nice to meet more people who like to learn about Chinese culture,” says Claudette Youngster. Chinese calligraphy, done with an inkstick and calligraphy brush, is articulated beautifully by these student’s hands. It is one of the many activities done within this community of Chinese Culture enthusiasts.
