While The Habit Burger Grill at Bound Brook, NJ may be similar to other restaurants, such as McDonalds and Burger King, by emphasizing the freshness of burgers and sandwiches, the restaurant separates itself from other fast food chains.

The Habit Burger Grill is very close to the Bridgewater Sports Arena. Even though Habit is about 2 ½ years old as it first opened on March 21st, 2018, Habit has a slick and modern restaurant design as the interior building is colorful with some paintings on the wall. In addition, the exterior building is full of windows to attract sunlight, but sometimes I wished the restaurant had more blinds to block the sunlight. Also, the sign on top of the restaurant that is literally brighter than the sun, and the mixture of red and brown inside the restaurant grabs the customers to solely focus on the menu. Habit mainly sells grilled burgers and sandwiches, like the classic Charburger and a grilled chicken sandwich. They also offer many side dishes and milkshakes, such as fries, onion rings, green beans fries (my personal favorite), strawberry shakes, etc. Speaking of the meal, a typical meal at Habit costs around $9- $15, which includes a charburger, fries, and a drink.

Furthermore, the food, such as the charburger, is always grilled to perfection. When you bite inside the burger, the savory sauce always melts inside your mouth. Other than the main dish, the french fries and green bean fries are always crispy with a reasonable amount of salt. Managing a sensible amount of juicy flavour and salt is what Habit is highly skilled at. Although the food may look attractive, the quantity of food Habit gives out is underwhelming at times. For example, when I ordered a burger and a side of fries, Habit gave me a relatively small burger and only 20 medium sized fries. In summary, the freshness and quality of the food deserves an A-.

While the quality of the food is one strong factor to Habit, service speed is a huge factor that Habit fails to keep up with. While Habit may offer delicious food, speed may be a person’s priority rather than the quality of food as people tend to rush and not have time to eat gourmet food. From the time a person places an order to the completion of the order, it usually takes 10-15 minutes, but it varies depending on the time of day and the size of the order. In comparison to other fast food restaurants like McDonalds or Burger King, both take about 50% of the time Habit usually takes to complete an order. In general, Habit deserves a B- when it comes to speed.

A restaurant’s cleanliness and staff defines a restaurant’s customer service, and Habit goes beyond a normal restaurant’s expectations. From quick cleaning table service to respecting employees behind the cash register, Habit does it all. The bathroom and pick up counter are always cleaned, as everything is reasonably cleaned with cleaning spray. In addition, the floor is surprisingly spotless at times, but sometimes during lunch and dinner time, Habit can look a bit messy due to the high influx of customers. Presentation wise, Habit deserves an A- when it comes to quality control.

Without a doubt, Habit is a unique burger chain, but it has a myriad of basic comparisons to other high end burger chains, like Five Guys and Shake Shack. For example, Five Guys’ ordering process and the waiting time are pretty similar as all the burgers are cooked fresh. The peanuts on the ground in Five Guys can be related to all the leftover French fries on the floor in Habit. In addition, the cleanliness and staff etiquette are top notch as the staff would mostly deliver the food to the customer during non-peak times in both restaurants. Moreover, Shake Shack has the most comparisons to Habit as the price, food quality, and operation are so similar. Burgers range from $4-$5 as the beef patties are always well done, and operations for both restaurants are pretty slow, but staffing issues in the U.S. economy is the one to blame.

In conclusion, while The Habit in Bound Brook, NJ targets customers who have the spare time to eat gourmet food rather than customers who are just looking for a quick bite, Habit always executes what quality food should taste like.
