Piscataway- For the first time in over a decade, the Teachers have defeated the Students in the Future Business Leaders of America Mission Life Basketball game in the Anthony Gym at Piscataway High School on April 4th, 2025. FBLA generated about $5,000 and they donated it all to the Embrace Kids Foundation Charity.

It is impressive that students from FBLA were able to assemble such an event to raise money for charity. After all, FBLA is a Student-led organization at Piscataway High School as pointed out by Mr. Critelli, the teacher advisor for FBLA.
“Somehow, this entire event is unfolding seamlessly behind my back with no help from me and that, more than anything, speaks volumes about the talent, dedication, and quiet brilliance of our officers and FBLA members,” Critelli said.

The event was filled with many moments that left the crowd ecstatic. The most iconic moment happened with about 4:27 to go in the fourth quarter. Mr. Holbert, one of the school’s most beloved teachers, put up a wide open 3 point shot and swished it to put the teachers up 60-49.

When asked about it, Holbert said, “I was wide open simply because of the fact that I hadn’t been shooting well all game. So when I got the ball, I just said, you know what? Let me let it fly. Next thing I know, the whole entire crowd erupted.”
Aarav Patel, a spectator at the event, said this was his favorite moment from the event. He had great things to say about Mr. Holbert.
“That Mr. H 3 point shot, I liked that a lot. He’s a very awesome guy! He’s very chill! I like him. When he hit that 3, I was like ‘What! No way!’” Patel said.

As impressive as this event was, PHS student organizations are not done fundraising yet – the HOSA “Million Dollar Match” charity volleyball game will be held on Wed, May 21st in the Anthony Gym
