On Friday April 17, Piscataway High Schools chapter of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) hosted their 14th annual charity basketball game: Mission Life. This year the proceeds generated from the event were donated to the Embrace Kids Foundation, an organization which funds research and treatment for sickle cell anemia. The match raised over $4200, a significant amount for the charity.
The event featuring teachers playing against students had an all star lineup including Piscataway’s own varsity power forward Donald Nwaigwe and beloved teacher Mr. Buggey. The match stayed close throughout but in the end the teachers got a leg up, winning 58-53.

This match was planned and carried out with a great help from the club’s volunteers. They made the match run smoothly while also spending much time beforehand setting up the venue and marketing the event. In the words of FBLA President Dhruv Shah,
“Mission Life is a great event for all our FBLA members to be part of something bigger than themselves, from the preparations, including sponsorship runs, the mural painting, operations, decorations, ticket selling, every small effort counts and makes this event such a huge success.”

The event overall was considered a success. When asked for a comment on the event, FBLA club advisor Mr. Critelli responded,
“The volunteers this year were great. They ran the event well. We raised over four grand for Embrace Kids which is a great foundation and that’s a lot of money. Shout out to Dhruv Shah and the rest of the officers. They spent a lot of time working on the event and we couldn’t have done it without them.”
This year’s Mission Life will go down as one of the best ones yet and sets a new bar for years to come.
