It’s finally football season!!! I went to 3 football games this year: a high school, college and NFL football game. I’m going to tell you which one was my favorite, and I will be ranking the football games from 1-10.
NFL Football: Buffalo vs. Tampa Bay
On August 23 2025, I went to an NFL game. I saw my favorite football team, the Buffalo Bills, play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Raymond James stadium in Tampa Bay Florida. It was the final preseason game of the 2025 NFL preseason, and fans were excited for the actual season to start. Unfortunately, no starters played for the Bills nor the Buccaneers. The Bills went on to win the game 23-19. Fans were cheering and there were things that fans were involved in. For instance if you scanned a QR code you would be on the jumbotron! There were also game day activities for fans outside the stadium pregame like kicking a field goal or throwing a football into the net. For being a preseason game I’m going to give the NFL a 6/10 because, sadly, as a preseason game, it was not as electric as a regular season game (I would like to have given it a 7/10 because my Bills won, but I’m not trying to be biased in the scoring part). However, fans still gave it all out for their teams, and that was the important part.
Final Fan Score: 6/10

High School Football: Sayreville vs. Piscataway
High school football…. Yes, in Texas high school football is BIG! But what about New Jersey?
I went to the annual homecoming football game. It was Sayreville vs Piscataway (my favorite high school) on October 3rd 2025 in Kenny Armwood Stadium in Piscataway NJ. At the time, Sayreville was 5-0 and Piscataway was 4-1. The game theme was camouflage. When the game began, fans were cheering on both sides, and the first half went back and forth. At the end of the first half, the score was 21-17 Sayerville, but then in the 2nd half disaster struck for Piscataway – Sayreville scored 21 points and Piscataway only scored 7 points to make the PHS fans go silent. Sayreville went on to win by a final score of 42-24 Sayreville. My final rating for this game was a 4.5/10 because this game was, sadly, a blowout and the PHS fans stopped cheering during the middle of the second half.
Final Fan Score: 4.5/10

College Football
On October 10, 2025 I went on a trip with my father and brother to Penn State to see a college hockey and college football game. The next day, October 11, it was college football gameday. We left the hotel and as early as 11:00am we got to Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania to watch Northwestern University play Penn State University for their annual homecoming game. They had pregame activities like cornhole and throwing footballs into the nets and tailgating. Everyone was having a great time before the game.
When the game started it, was a low scoring game and fans were eager to see their teams finally score. Penn state was recently upset by 0-4 UCLA, so Penn State needed to win this game if they wanted their coach, James Franklin, to keep his head coaching job alive. During tv breaks, the marching band played songs such as classics like “Mr Brightside” by the Killers. Penn State led during halftime against Northwestern 14-13, but during the second half, it would get exciting. Both Penn State and Northwestern scored in the fourth quarter, but eventually Northwestern would come out on top 22-21 over Penn state. I will give this game a 5/10 because it was a low scoring game with exciting plays and fans were involved until the the end for Penn State (and at least it was not a blowout).
Final Fan Score: 5/10

Final Thoughts
The NFL is king — there is a reason it is the most popular pro sports league in the U.S above the MLB, NBA, NHL, and MLS. Don’t get me wrong, high school and college football is crazy, but the NFL is hard to beat with how much popularity there is and how much attention it gets. At least for me, the NFL wins this round!
