The Piscataway High School girls wrestling program has had a tough but memorable season. They are currently 2-10, with two matches left to go. The season started out roughly, with five losses in a row. But then the team bounced back with their win against St.Thomas Aquinas 48-6, making it their best win of the year. This achievement came after their hardest loss, a 60-12 defeat to Hillsborough. Unfortunately, after that high point, Piscataway hit another five match losing streak. Yet they finished strong with another win, beating Montgomery 36-24 and showing their perseverance.

Piscataway’s best wrestler in the Girls’ wrestling program is none other than senior Jane Rodrigues. Jane was the first ever PHS female wrestler to qualify for the NJSIAA state tournament in 2024. At the 2025 GMC Girls’ Wrestling Championships, she wasted no time, pinning the defending champ in just 42 seconds.
Piscataway’s last two matches were against Montgomery and North Brunswick.
On February 6, 2026, PHS earned a win over Montgomery. Montgomery ended the match with one pin and three forfeits while Piscataway had three forfeits and two pins of their own. Piscataway got the first forfeit by Mikayla Wallace to put them up 6-0 but then Montgomery got a forfeit to tie it up at 6. From there, Piscataway took control, scoring an unanswered 18 points to jump out to a 24-6 lead. Once they had momentum, Piscataway didn’t look back, closing out the night with a 36-24 win at Montgomery High School.

Piscataway’s most recent match was against North Brunswick on February 13, 2026. New Brunswick opened with a pin from Yulissa Jimenez over Evelyn Lopez-Portela to take a 6-0 lead. Piscataway struck back when senior Jane Rodrigues pinned down Alexandra Reyes, making the score even at 6-6.Next, North Brunswick pulled ahead by scoring a series of pins and three forfeits, building the score to 36-6 advantage. Mia Cole of Piscataway then pushed back by pinning Montana Townsend of North Brunswick, making the score 36-12.

Unfortunately, after that, Piscataway went down another scoreless streak. Diana Quevendo Navarrette got the final points for Piscataway with a pin over Luzelle Bustamante of North Brunswick, bringing the score to 54-18. Despite scoring a significant amount of points, it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback, with the matching ending at that score.
